REF: SYMCOLOR
SYMCOLOR Utility
Some customers have asked to have the notification symbol appear larger
or brighter on their screen. Although the symbol must be limited to
a single character for technical reasons, the symbol can be made
much more obvious by changing the color of the symbol or the color of
the background on which it flashes.
Notework has a utility called SYMCOLOR.EXE which lets you change the
symbol color and background for a Notework which has been loaded.
SYMCOLOR may be used at the DOS command line by typing:
SYMCOLOR $hh
where hh is a hex byte representing a background and foreground color.
Typing SYMCOLOR without arguments will show the choices that you
have for colors with the hex byte that represents the color.
To run SYMCOLOR automatically for all users, place this command in the
NW1.BAT file directly after the NW * line. SYMCOLOR may also be used
in AUTOEXEC.BAT or on a menu system.
Below are some suggestions for specific types of monitors.
===== CGA, EGA, VGA and Composite Screens =====
On color and composite screens, SYMCOLOR $74 will give you a red note
on a white blinking background. This combination also looks good on
monochrome EGA and VGA.
===== Hercules and Monochrome Text Screens =====
On Hercules and monochrome text screens SYMCOLOR $78 will give you
a black note on a white blinking background.
